School Age Calculator is a free tool for parents that answers one question instantly: "what grade is my child in, and when do they start school?" Enter a birth date and your state's kindergarten cutoff date — the calculator shows the current grade, exact age, and a year-by-year timeline from kindergarten through Grade 12 graduation. Everything runs in your browser; no data is uploaded.

The site covers all 50 US states, every Canadian province, every Australian state and territory, and the four UK nations — because the answer to "when does my child start school" depends entirely on where you live, and most tools only handle one country.

Who built this

School Age Calculator was built and is maintained by Seif Amara, a developer and parent who kept having to manually work out grade eligibility every enrollment season. Cutoff dates vary by state, leap-year birthdays need special handling, and the math is easy to get wrong. This tool gets it right automatically.
